Things I'm learning about Texas...

I try to rarely rant on the blog... but today is an exception! I keep learning new things about the south. This week I learned that I sholdn't mow over fire ant hills. Blasted ants!
Man, I destroyed their anthill yesterday and it's back today!
I have 6 nasty, raised, itchy bites that have swollen up bigger than quarters. Help! How do I make them go away?

Oh Mandy! I'm so sorry! You learn to look out for little "piles of dirt"! Probably old wives tale, but my family has used meat tenderizer - add a little water and apply as a paste. Its silly, but I can't think of any other medicine other than advil and an icepack to take the edge off! Good Luck!

Thanks Molly! At this point- I'll try anything.

Apparently if you feed ants grit, they eat it and explode. Might be worth a shot to get rid of the ants.

Yup, you definitely need to invest in ant pesticide. They're bad news... Go pick up some bug-bite anti-itch stuff. I have no idea what it's called, but it always worked pretty good. I mean, it always STUNG a lot, so it must have been working right?
OOOh, try the grit. Wouldn't it be fun to watch them explode? ;)
